WKSCH015: Laser Loom - Beginning Backstrap Weaving

Create a loom on the laser cutter and then learn to weave. This loom is yours to keep and take home so you can continue to create multiple colored woven fabrics!

Project: Rigid heddle backstrap loom

Prerequisite(s): None; LAS101 Laser Cutting and Etching SBU recommended

Equipment access: None

Minimum age: 12 years

Supervision requirements: During class, all 12- to 15-year-old students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also enrolled in the class.

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are mandatory.

WKSCH016: Advanced Sewing - Decorative Pillow

Are you ready to take your sewing projects to the next level?

Learn advanced skills while making a beautiful decorative pillow. At the end of class, you will be able to calculate yardage, pattern match fabric, make cording, and insert an invisible zipper. Materials are included or bring your own fabric (1 yard) and coordinating thread to create a pillow that will perfectly match your decor.

Project: Decorative pillow

Prerequisites: Successful completion of TXL109: Basic Sewing Machines Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class

Equipment access: None

Minimum age: 12

Supervision requirements: During class, all 12- to 15-year-old students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also enrolled in the class.

When using the sewing machines outside of class time, 12- to 15-year-old members must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian who has passed the SBU.

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.

WKSCH027: Laser Inlaid Wooden Keepsake Box

So you've taken the WoodShop SBU and you've been passed on the lasers, now what? How about learning how to utilize the skills you've learned from both classes into one unique project!



This unique three part hybrid class takes you both into the Woodshop and onto the lasers, combining those skills to teach the skill of inlay using wood veneer! This class will be broken up over three consecutive weeks for two hour class periods.



Week 1: You'll start in the woodshop designing your keepsake box and preparing all the pieces.



Week 2: This time you'll be at the laser, choosing your own custom design, cutting it out, and start the gluing process for your inlaid box using your lasered pieces.



Week 3: You'll finish your box assembling it together and learning basic finishing techniques and effects.



Students aren't expected to finish project at the end of every class, but encouraged to do any behind work between classes in preparation for the following week. Students who miss one part of their series can come to a different time that works better with their

WKSCH404: Stealth and Gurrilla Marketing Techniques for the Entrepreneur

Marketing is essential for all businesses. Most startups and even some established businesses lack the resources for a typical marketing program. This class will explore and educate on different avenues of Grass Roots, Stealth and Guerrilla Marketing techniques. Using social media and other online resources, you'll learn how to market your product and create Brand Identity with little or no budget.

Proven techniques will help you market your product or business, help you with "Proof of Concept" and to establish value for your product.

Ongoing support and classes will also be available to help keep your marketing on track!
