AUD130: Autodesk Fusion 360 Basics

Fusion 360 is Autodesk’s latest product development tool for design, fabrication and collaboration. Merging industrial and mechanical design, you will quickly explore organic shapes through intuitive free-form modeling tools, or create precise, parametric models – it’s up to you! Simply put, Fusion 360 is the platform for rapidly accelerating from an idea in your head to a manufactured product in your hand.

In this introductory course, you will learn about:
  • Cloud data management and collaboration
  • Navigation
  • Solid modeling
  • 2D sketching
  • T-spline sculpting
  • Creating assemblies
  • Rendering
By the end of class, you will have an understanding of direct and parametric modeling, dimensioned sketches, T-spline geometry, and much more!

Prerequisites: None!

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.

AUD009: Autodesk Inventor for Mold Design

Injection mold design and manufacturing can be one of the most expensive and time consuming processes in manufacturing and prototyping. But it doesn't have to be.

Autodesk Inventor has a number of incredible software tools that make designing complex parts much easier. The feature-rich mold design section covered in this class is one of them.

In this class, the instructor will cover several tools that are available to automate key aspects of injection mold design and testing.

Learn how parts modeled in Inventor can be used to automatically generate an efficient mold as well as how Inventor ensures that any changes to the digital model are automatically reflected in your mold design.

When you are done with your design, the file can be exported to a variety of different CAM (computer aided manufacturing) packages to generate the code needed to machine your mold on equipment such as TechShop's CNC Tormach mill. Once you've machined your mold, it can be used to manufacture parts on TechShop's Morgan Press injection molding machine.

This class is a fantastic way to do in-house rapid prototyping and can help you cut down on the number of iterations needed before you have a working final mold ready for production on any scale.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of AUD001: Autodesk Inventor Basics is REQUIRED prior to taking this class

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.
