AUD001: Autodesk Inventor Basics

Learn how to navigate, sketch and model in Autodesk Inventor.

You will gain a basic understanding of three dimensional computer design which can be used on nearly all of our computer controlled machines at TechShop. In this class you will learn about file types; dimensioning; geometric constraints; patterns; adding text; inserting image files; basic modeling functions such as: Extrude, Revolve, Loft and Sweep; exporting your file and creating laser-able and CAMable files. The goal is to provide you with enough tools to use Inventor at a solid, basic level and to inspire you to seek out more advanced features such as simulation, mold making and sheet metal.

Prerequisites: None!

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required everywhere in TechShop, even in the computer lab.

AUD130: Autodesk Fusion 360 Basics

Fusion 360 is Autodesk’s latest product development tool for design, fabrication and collaboration. Merging industrial and mechanical design, you will quickly explore organic shapes through intuitive free-form modeling tools, or create precise, parametric models – it’s up to you! Simply put, Fusion 360 is the platform for rapidly accelerating from an idea in your head to a manufactured product in your hand.

In this introductory course, you will learn about:
  • Cloud data management and collaboration
  • Navigation
  • Solid modeling
  • 2D sketching
  • T-spline sculpting
  • Creating assemblies
  • Rendering
By the end of class, you will have an understanding of direct and parametric modeling, dimensioned sketches, T-spline geometry, and much more!

Prerequisites: None!

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.

AUD120: Autodesk Revit - 3D Modeling for Furniture

Revit is Autodesk's 3D modeling software for architecture.

In this basic class, you will learn how to use Revit on a furniture scale level to create small items. You will create an item with Revit’s sketch and modeling methods, manipulate its components as a family and project, and learn how to make the parts CAM ready for production. You will also see the benefits of using Revit to visualize your final design inside of its proposed location.

Prerequisites: None!

Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.
