|From puppets to underwater robots and 3D printers, TechShop member inventions bring the maker spirit to world’s largest DIY festival|
MENLO PARK, Calif.
, May 16, 2013 --
TechShop, a membership-based, do-it-yourself workshop and fabrication studio, will be front, right, left and center at the eighth annual Bay Area Maker Faire that will be held at the San Mateo Event Center on May 18-19, 2013. The TechShop booth in the Expo Hall (#119/218) will feature demos and hands-on activities.
Called the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, Maker Faire is the largest annual DIY festival and the biggest gathering of makers in the world. The event will also abound with exhibits by TechShop partners, such as Ford and Autodesk®, as well as feature a sampling of TechShop member creations and inventions including puppets, open source underwater robots, 3D printers, high tech art, and more.
"TechShop's mission is to engage, enable and empower everyone to build their dreams,” said Jim Newton, TechShop founder. “To see the TechShop footprint expanding across Maker Faire, we can’t help but feel proud of our creative community for the tireless efforts they put into building their dreams and successfully launching and propelling businesses.”
The DIY workshop's booth is located across from Autodesk’s in Expo Hall. Between TechShop and its members and partners, attendees will find something for every interest, whether it’s to learn about 3D printing or design software at the Autodesk station, watch fun demos like the mini SumoBot ring, or check out the laser cutters and other core equipment and software available at TechShop. Attendees will also be able to sign up for TechShop classes and take advantage of new membership and class package offers that include special deals for families.
