CNC101: Concepts of CNC - Level 1
Class Number 212-38172
This is the first in our CNC Machining Series of classes, a Level 1 class.
Learn the basics of CNC (computer numerical control) devices. This seminar will present the whole CNC process, from CAD (computer aided design) to CAM (computer aided machining) to CUT (cutting your part). Learn the essentials of calculating feeds and speeds. Understand the uses and differences between climb cutting and conventional cutting.
Many of our students have found that they end up taking all the classes in this CNC series, even if they have to schedule them out of order. It is strongly recommended to have taken either CNC Level 1 or CNC Level 2 BEFORE taking a CNC Level 3 or CNC Level 4 class.
NOTE: This class may be attended by students under 18 without a parent or guardian. Minimum age restriction still applies.
Once you have successfully completed this class you will have the knowledge needed to enroll in the next CNC Machining Series software classes and SBUs.
Level 1 - Learn the big picture
Concepts of CNC - Learn all the vocabulary and concepts needed to get the most out of the other classes in this series
Level 2 - Learn to translate your drawing into machine readable code
CNC Level 2: CAD to CAM Software - This class focuses on using the ShopBot CNC wood router
CNC Level 2: InventorCAM Software - This class focuses on using the Tormach CNC mill, but the software will also work on the ShopBot
Level 3 - Learn how to use the CNC machine - These are hands-on classes
CNC Level 3: ShopBot SBU
CNC Level 3: Tormach SBU
