In this Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class, learn to quilt effortlessly with TechShop's CNC long arm quilting machine. Practice attaching fabric to the leads, winding bobbins, threading the machine, changing needles, and using the hopping foot. Stay in control with traditional quilting techniques or sit back and enjoy consistent stitch quality while the quilter automatically sews a pattern straight from the computer. Quilting has never been so easy!
Project: Quilt a 20” x 15” square
Prerequisites: Knowledge of quilting a plus
Equipment access: CNC long arm quilting machine
Minimum age: 12
Supervision requirements: All 12- to 15-year-olds must attend class with a parent or guardian and be supervised, while using the long arm quilting machine, by a parent or guardian who has passed the SBU.
Safety: Closed-toed shoes are required.
Passing this class is a requirement to use this equipment at TechShop
