MTL201: Sheet Metal - Organic Shapes SBU
Class Number 359-28965

In this Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class, you will learn how to safely work with sheet metal to form curved shapes.

Tools include slip roll, English wheel, plannishing hammer, metal shrinker and stretcher, Beverly shear, and shot bags and hammers. You will receive hands-on practice with the tools and learn how to form compound curves in sheet metal. These are the beginning steps to making motorcycle gas tanks, fenders, curved panels and more.

Note: This class focuses on tools that create curves and compound curves in sheet metal. The tools are not used to work with metal thicker than 16 gauge mild steel or aluminum. For basic sheet metal skills, please see the description for the Angular Sheet Metal class. To learn tools to form metal thicker than 16 gauge (0.06", 1/16" or 1.5mm), please see the description for the Basic Metal Shop class.

Prerequisite: We recommend that you take the MTL104 Angular Sheet Metal SBU before taking this class.
