WOD304: Advanced Woodworking - Joinery
Class Number 628-28892
Wood joinery is the foundation of building furniture and wooden structures. Joints can be very simple and purely functional or they can be complex and elegant, requiring a master level of artistry and skill to produce.
In this class, you will learn joint-making techniques as well as highly valuable theory and background information as they apply to joint making. You will learn when to use certain joints, which joints are the strongest, how grain direction influences joint strength, glue selection, pre-gluing techniques, proper clamping and much more. This class will provide the foundation needed to create virtually any wood structural project.
Class time will be split between discussing theory in the classroom and learning joinery techniques and creating joints in the woodshop.
Prerequisites:To participate in this class, you must pass the Woodshop SBU (WOD101) and Planer, Jointer and Router Table SBU (WOD201).
