WKS918: Lathe Turning - End-Grain Boxes
Class Number 706-28858
Learn to make small, elegant wooden boxes with continuous grain patterns flowing from base to lid.
This workshop will cover wood selection, design, planning, basic boring, hollowing and precision lid-fitting. These little boxes are charming and make a perfect gift or the perfect box for an even more meaningful gift -- the best things come in small packages!
If there are more than two students in a class, we will split into groups (one per lathe) to turn boxes that will be kept at TechShop. You will be provided with information on where to obtain the materials to make a box of your own.
Prerequisite: You must successfully take and pass the Wood Lathe safety and basic use (SBU)class and have at least two hours of practice or completion of any turning project before taking this class.
