ART103: Silkscreen Printing SBU
Class Number 66-28404

Have you ever wanted to make your own custom silkscreened T-shirts?

TechShop makes silkscreening easy by using vinyl stencils rather than photo-emulsion.

In this hands-on class, you'll learn all the basics of silkscreen printing. Your instructor will guide you through the process, including preparing a vinyl stencil, transferring it onto a screen, using the screen to apply ink to fabric and heat setting the ink.

If you'd like to print a T-shirt using your own artwork, please bring a simple black and white drawing to use for your design. You're welcome to bring more than one design so the instructor can help you choose which one to use. Only one screen will be created during class. Simple is best; you will be cutting the design by hand!

If you have already taken TechShop's Vinyl Cutter SBU class, you may bring in a pre-cut design to transfer onto your screen. Be sure not to weed your design; we'll all do this together in class.
