Learn to use the long arm quilting machine like a professional!

In this information-packed, hands-on Safety and Basic Use (SBU) class, you will learn the ins and outs of working with TechShop's long arm quilting machine, including how to attach the top, lining and batting to the canvas leaders; wind bobbins; thread the machine; change needles; and use the hopping foot, Harley Davidson-type handles and laser guidance system. You will learn to use the two modes of stitching: movement and stitch. We will discuss sources for materials and machine accessories and you will receive tips for professional results.

To practice your skills, you will make a place mat in class.

Upon successful completion of this class, you will have the experience and knowledge necessary to operate this machine independently.

Passing this class is a requirement to use this equipment at TechShop
