WKS919: All about Audio Systems
Class Number 720-24882
Have you always wanted to make your own speakers? All the basics for building your own speakers will be covered by member Rick Craig from Selah Audio. The emphasis will be on home audio and home theater systems; however, some of the information can be applied as well to car and professional sound (PA speakers).
Some topics to be covered include:
- How to select parts for your project (woofers, tweeters, midranges, crossovers)
- Cabinet construction: choosing materials, tools needed, joinery, applying veneer, finishing
- Home theater: surround speakers, center channels, subwoofers
- Resources: books, online forums, parts suppliers
- How speakers work to produce the sound we hear
- Advantages of a DIY builder: creativity, intrinsic value of building it yourself, saving money
This is a fabulous opportunity to learn about Audio systems from an expert. There are no prerequisites. This is a lecture-style class, so bring a notebook.
