This is a flower that will never, ever wilt (although it may rust)!

Each participant will walk away with his/her own handmade metal flower to use as decoration in your garden, office, or home. This is not a Safety and Basic Usage class. This workshop is open to both members and non-members.
CNC Waterjet Cutter SBU - Level 4(398-35244) TechShop Detroit-Allen Park Sa 6/22/13 12:00 PM 4 Hours John Jaranson 16 to $185 $10 None
The Flow waterjet cutter is one of the most powerful tools in TechShop's arsenal. Using a high pressure stream of water mixed with abrasive garnet, the machine cuts precise shapes, lines and curves out of a wide variety of materials. It can cleanly cut through almost any flat material, including all kinds of metal, wood, glass, tile, marble, granite and more. It will cut the thinnest sheet metal as well as materials up to a foot thick. It creates no heat, so materials like stainless steel, glass and stone that are usually damaged by heat are unaffected by waterjet cutting. The only common material it won't cut is tempered glass, although it works well on regular glass.

Learn How to Marble Paper
(Session 926-35414)
TechShop Pittsburgh Su 6/30/13 6:00 PM 2 Hours Kayte Rose to $40 $8 5
Paper marbling is an ancient method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The crazy marbled patterns are the result of water or oil based paint floated on a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to the surface of the paper. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces. It is often employed as a writing surface for calligraphy, and especially book covers and endpapers in bookbinding and stationery. Part of its appeal is that each print is a unique monotype.
