WKS910: Bowl Turning on the Lathe
Class Number 666-29970
Learn how to turn a block of wood into a unique and functional bowl!
In this workshop, you will experience the step-by-step process of turning a wooden bowl from a small square blank or log section. You will learn how to select, mount and rough out the blank, then discuss shaping, turning a foot, chuck mounting and hollowing out, as well as sanding and final foot removal. The instructor will discuss various finishes but will not have time to execute these.
Everyone will work on the same project piece to be displayed at TechShop, but will each get a bowl blank to later pursue on their own.
Class prerequisites: Successful completion of the Wood Lathe SBU prior to taking this class, and at least two additional hours spent practicing basic cuts, or one completed project of any kind. Please do not register if you do not meet them.
