WKS11312: Introduction to Processing
Class Number 756-26531

Date: Saturday, November 3, 2012

Presented by: Brent Thorne

Are you interested in making visually stunning interactive graphics, animations and 3D models? If you're a designer, maker or visual artist interested in building graphical computer programs, then this workshop is for you. Even if you're an experienced programmer you'll discover a fun and exciting way to interactively visualize your data with the processing programming language.

We'll take a hands-on approach to learning by building interactive visualizations introducing the capabilities to the processing language and the numerous libraries that extend it. This workshop will cover the basic elements of the language: variables, operations, loops, functions, graphics, animation and interactivity. You'll leave this class with the skills to explore the world of processing on your very own.

About the presenter: Brent Thorne is San Francisco-based computer scientist and kinetic artist, with over 20 years of experience as an engineer, scientist and visual artist. His current research involves the design and implementation of novel mechanical computing devices. This spring Brent will be exhibiting his largest work to date, a massively complex, mechanical computing device for calculating and displaying fractal math functions.
