WKS643: Flat-Pack Wooden Scooter
Class Number 1083-52719
In this workshop, participants (one child and one adult helper) will assemble and decorate a sturdy and unique wooden scooter with guidance from a workshop instructor.
Using a construction style called "flat-pack" because the individual wooden parts are cut from a flat sheet of plywood and can be easily stacked, each flat part interlocks with the other parts to create a three-dimensional object. It's a technique often used for furniture construction, like many of the furniture pieces in TechShop, but the addition of wheels makes this one more fun! The wheels are quality rubber roller blade style with integral ball bearings.
Participants will receive a complete set of wooden parts that have been machine cut using TechShop's CNC ShopBot robotic wood router. No special skill is required to assemble these scooters and only simple hand tools (provided) are needed to complete them.
Once finished, each scooter can be customized with self-adhesive vinyl stickers (provided) produced on TechShop's computer controlled vinyl Cutter and then taken for a spin around the parking lot!
