Metallurgy is the study of producing objects made of metal, including quarrying, mine construction, and smelting. It is the technology of metals that is applied to practical use.

In this one-hour FREE lecture by a former foundry manager and metalworking extension specialist at NC State, you will learn about the following:

Properties of iron and steel

Properties of aluminum

Properties of copper, brass, and bronze

Changing the properties of metals

Making metal parts or objects: casting, using commercial shapes, cutting and bending, cold forming and forging

Methods of joining (soldering, welding, mechanical joints and adhesives)
