This workshop is part of Menlo Park’s Aluminum Casting Series
Learn how to cast your own hand in aluminum using the ancient (i.e., really, really old school) plaster mold technique! Training, plaster and REALLY HOT aluminum are provided. The finished product will be wall mountable and makes a great holder or hanger.
This workshop takes place over two consecutive days as Part 1 and Part 2, totalling three hours. Pricing is for a single hand (pick your favorite!). Additional casting requires purchase of additional workshop seats.
Prerequisite: You are signing up for Part 2 of the workshop: pouring molten aluminum. Do not sign up for this class unless you have already attended Cast an Aluminum Hand: Part 1. If you are not available for Part 2, you may pick up your hand after the completion of Aluminum Casting - Hand Art: Part 2.
Note: For your safety, please wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt made of natural fibers for this class. And remember, ALWAYS wear closed-toed shoes while at TechShop.
This is not a Safety and Basic Use class. Workshops utilize TechShop equipment, and all shop rules apply – unless you have passed the required safety and basic use SBU(s), your instructor will assist you on the equipment.
