From the TechLab to the Roadway: Ford Engineers & Virtual Technologies
Wednesday, 3/7/2012
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
TechShop San Francisco
Ford Buck

Please join us at TechShop for an evening with Ford Motor Company’s virtual reality and technical engineers straight from their laboratories in Dearborn, Michigan for a behind-the-scenes look at the sophisticated tools used to create higher-quality vehicles more efficiently.

The hands-on demo will include an opportunity to get behind the wheel of Ford’s state-of-the art "Virtual Reality buck”and experience firsthand the virtual engineering and manufacturing technologies for yourself. Ford uses the latest virtual reality technologies from Hollywood movie studios to fully experience a vehicle and analyze how concepts come together to evaluate a vehicle long before physical prototypes are built. These early evaluations in the virtual world mean Ford researchers can pay meticulous attention to detail and refine design and perfect craftsmanship years before they go into production. In partnership with TechShop, Ford engineers will guide you through the virtual design and engineering journey and give you a taste of what happens in Fords Labs.

Allison Stephens, an ergonomics technical specialist, and Elizabeth Baron, a virtual reality and advanced visualization technical specialist, build virtual vehicles that allow Ford to design, analyze and enhance the driver experience before a physical car ever exists.

Andrea Chowanic is an infotainment engineer who works with the cockpit electronics group on navigation system planning, human machine interface and Ford’s in-vehicle technology, MyFord Touch.

This is an exciting opportunity to get an inside look at how cars are being designed now and for the future! Beverages and light refreshments will be provided. This event is open to everyone, so bring your friends!

Please R.S.V.P. so we know how many people are coming!
